Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Come to Bethlehem and seeSweetly singing o'er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Christ Whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.
“6 Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”8 Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”
The angels pronounced in Luke 2:14 at His birth;
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
“Gloria, in excelsis Deo”
The coming of Jesus Christ the Messiah was the culmination of Glory- the correct opinion of who God is. Glory to God in the Highest! Jesus! The angels couldn’t help but reply….the angels have been doing that since their creation. As Christ’s birth-life-death and resurrection comes full circle the angels still sing; they are even now. Revelation 5:11-13;
“11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”
13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,“To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”
Christ the once baby now risen King….is to be praised. Glory to God in the Highest! “Gloria, in excelsis Deo”. Hark, listen for the angels…
