Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
I really love this last verse. Jesus was not just a teacher, an example…He was
the Enabler, the Lord over all. He came to
do the work of the Cross to give us the power Source to do His work- to be His people.
He did all the work so that the Holy Spirit
can dwell in the lives of His Believers.
The final hours
of Jesus’ life were a “Holy Night” as well, completing the journey that was the Father’s
will. The baby, grown into a man, was willing doing the work that the Father had
given Him to do and He laid out an overview of His plan to His 11 disciples in John
13-17. Love one another.
The gospel He was about to accomplish was a gospel of
love and peace, that satisfied God’s wrath and justice. It would
break chains and set brothers (and sisters) free…..oppression would cease for those
who are in Him. Christ is the Lord! What praise should be on our lips! His power and glory ever more proclaim!
